THIS HONEY IS BEST FOR:

  • Decreasing/reducing/relieving skin scaling/crusty skin
  • Decreasing/reducing/relieving skin redness
  • Enhancing/improving/promoting skin repair/healing
  • Antipruritic/relieving itchy skin
  • Decreasing/reducing/relieving itchy/prickling skin associated with mild eczema/dermatitis
  • Antimicrobial for minor cuts and abrasions

The life cycle of a cut or abrasion begins with the initial injury, where the skin is broken, and bleeding occurs. This is followed by inflammation, as the body responds to the injury by sending immune cells to the site to fight infection and begin the healing process. Over the next few days, the wound enters the proliferative phase, where new tissue forms to close the gap, and finally, the maturation phase, where the wound strengthens and scars over. Throughout this process, our Jarrah TA25+ Abrasion & Skin Crusting Honey can play a crucial role in wound healing. Its hydrogen peroxide-based makeup helps to reduce the risk of infection, while its natural moisture-retentive properties keep the wound environment optimal for healing. The honey also helps to reduce pain, and accelerates tissue regeneration, leading to faster healing.

This jar provides approximately 38 treatments.

HOW DO I APPLY THIS HONEY?

Apply Jarrah TA25+ Abrasion & Skin Crusting Honey directly to the wound and cover with a dressing for at least 2 hours before rinsing off with warm water. After use, wash the applicator with warm, soapy water and let it air dry. For optimal results, repeat twice daily until symptoms have improved.

Tip: For visible skin crusting on hard-to-cover areas like the nose and mouth, apply a mixture of honey and sorbolene cream in equal ratios. This helps the honey absorb more quickly and makes its application less noticeable. The mixture is to be mixed fresh prior to application.

FAQ

How quickly can I expect a perineum cut or abrasion to heal?

A mild abrasion or cut can heal as quickly as a few days.

For perineum cuts and abrasions, should I mix the honey with sorbolene cream?

We recommend first trialing the honey neat (i.e. not mixed with sorbolene cream). But if you're requiring lubrication to prevent rubbing while walking, mixing 50:50 with sorbolene cream is an option.

Why is this honey good for skin scaling on baby's scalp?

The exact cause of skin scaling is not known. Its likely due to a combination of things. Too much skin oil (sebum) in the oil glands and hair follicles and a type of yeast found on the skin called Malassezia. This honey contains enzymes that produce natural forms of hydrogen peroxide when they come into contact moisture, such as the moisture on the surface of the skin. These enzymes help to reduce skin scaling whilst being gentle on the skin.

Does baby need to wear a beanie after applying the honey and sorbolene cream mixture?

Whilst not necessary to achieve success, a beanie is a convenient way to prevent the sticky reside from transferring onto other surfaces.

What's the best way to wash the honey off baby's scalp?

Simply rinsing with warm water is enough. Some parents use the bristles of a super soft toothbrush in circular motion to speed up the process.

What's the best way to apply this honey for red prickling rashes in the nappy area?

We recommend applying a 2 part honey to 1 part sorbolene mixture and applying to the skin. The sorbolene cream can be replaced with your preferred lotion/cream.
